# About AppClap

> Good software shouldn't need a marketing budget to be discovered.

Anyone can build software now; getting it found is the hard part. Google and
AI models both point at whatever is already popular. AppClap matches on fit
instead: you get the tool that solves your problem, and the person who made it
gets found, not the one with the biggest marketing budget.

## Who we are

Two brothers, Markiian and Ostap Lebiak, committed to rebuilding how software
gets found.

- **Markiian Lebiak**, product and engineering: shapes what AppClap feels
  like, the semantic search that reads your intent and the interface that
  gets out of your way.
- **Ostap Lebiak**, engineering and data: keeps the catalog honest, the
  crawling, the freshness, and the plumbing that lets an LLM query AppClap
  over MCP.

## What we're aiming for

The tool that answers your ask goes first: a $5 one beats a $30 one you've
heard of.

- **Answers, not lists.** A verdict on whether a tool fits your ask, including
  when it doesn't.
- **True today.** Pricing and features are checked against the product
  itself, with the date we last looked.
- **Readable by agents.** The same catalog your LLM can query over MCP while
  it works alongside you.

## How it started

Two problems that turned out to be one. One of us shipped a mobile app and
needed a cheap tool for the App Store screenshots. The AI we asked gave a
confident list; half the apps were dead and the rest had pricing from years
ago. Then came the harder part: getting the app itself found. Distribution
meant filming TikToks and hoping an algorithm noticed. Why fight for the
attention of people scrolling, when there are people actively searching for
exactly the thing you made?

## Where we're going

- **Live today**: discovery, product pages, and MCP. Semantic search over
  plain-language asks, product pages built from the live site, and an MCP
  server that has been there from day one.
- **Building now**: the Builders Portal. A home for the people who make the
  software: claim your listing, keep pricing and features accurate, and see
  how builders arrive at your product.
