Ekiga (formerly known as GnomeMeeting) is an open source SoftPhone, Video Conferencing and Instant Messenger application over the Internet. It supports HD sound quality and video up to DVD size and quality. It uses both major telephony standards, SIP and H.323, making it interoperable with many service providers and hardware/software. It can be used as a replacement for hardware SIP IP phones as well as for videoconferencing and instant messaging.
