ImageEngine Kube

The first self-hosted image optimization engine for Kubernetes & Docker.·imageengine.io

Visit

ImageEngine Kube is a self-hosted image optimization engine that deploys as a container inside a customer's own Kubernetes or Docker infrastructure. It performs device-aware optimization (via WURFL device detection), automatic next-gen format conversion (AVIF, WebP, JPEG XL, JPEG 2000), resizing and compression, delivering up to 80% payload reduction. Unlike credit- or usage-based SaaS image CDNs, it is billed at a flat monthly rate regardless of traffic volume, while customers retain full ownership of their data and choose their own CDN (CloudFront, Fastly, Cloudflare, Akamai, etc.).

What it's for

Optimizing product images for e-commerce to improve page load speed and conversionReducing storage and delivery costs for user-generated content platforms (real estate, social apps, community sites)Optimizing vendor/reseller images on marketplaces without control over source imagesOn-the-fly optimization of travel/hospitality listing photos instead of pre-generating variantsTesting a website's current image performanceEstimating cost savings versus credit-based image SaaS platforms

Features 16

  • Automatic next-gen format conversion (AVIF, WebP, JPEG XL, JPEG 2000, animated WebP/MP4)
  • Deployable on AWS, Azure, GCP, bare metal, or on-prem infrastructure
  • Device-aware image optimization powered by WURFL device detection
  • Flat monthly license pricing, no per-request or bandwidth overage fees
  • Full data ownership — images never leave customer infrastructure
  • Generates 10–15 optimized image derivatives per original image
  • Interactive pricing/cost estimator comparing Kube vs. credit-based SaaS
  • Optional WAF & DDoS protection add-on
  • Pre-provisioned sandbox environment with Control Panel for testing before deployment
  • Prometheus-compatible metrics and health endpoints for Grafana dashboards
  • Save-Data network condition detection for optimization decisions
  • Self-hosted deployment via Kubernetes (Helm chart) or Docker Compose
  • Smart compression and dynamic resizing
  • Up to 80% payload reduction
  • URL-based directives for fine-grained, API-compatible control
  • Works with any third-party CDN (CloudFront, Fastly, Cloudflare, Akamai)

Pricing

Pricing uses an interactive cost estimator based on request volume, image size, and infrastructure costs rather than a fixed price list. Example outputs for an 'Enterprise' tier (up to 250M requests/mo) at ~100M requests/month show $1,999/mo flat fee and $19,990/yr. Actual price is tied to your tier, not traffic. Infrastructure costs (AWS/CDN/compute) are billed separately by your cloud provider.

Enterprise (example estimate)$1999/mo

Figure shown as an illustrative output of the interactive pricing estimator at ~100M requests/month; actual price is tied to customer's tier/volume, not a fixed public price. Annual contract also stated: $19,990/yr, described as equivalent to 10 months of the flat monthly rate.

Enterprise tier, up to 250M requests/mo (as shown at the default 100M requests/month estimator setting)
