VLC is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files as well as DVDs, Audio CDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It supports hardware decoding on most platforms with GPU 0-copy and software fallback. It has an extensive feature set for video/audio filters and subtitle synchronization, and supports numerous input formats and network streaming protocols. The vendor states it contains no spyware, no ads, and no user tracking.
