BigBlueButton is an open source virtual classroom software platform built for virtual learning and education. It provides tools such as document upload, whiteboard, breakout rooms, chat, polling, screen sharing, and a learning analytics dashboard. It is embedded as the default virtual classroom in major learning management systems including Canvas, Moodle Cloud, Sakai, Jenzabar, D2L, and Schoology. The software was developed by the Technology Innovation Management program at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, in 2007.
