BitlBee brings IM (instant messaging) to IRC clients.·bitlbee.org
BitlBee is a gateway that brings instant messaging (IM) networks into IRC clients, so users can manage IM contacts and chats without running a separate client. It supports XMPP/Jabber and Twitter (and GNU social) out of the box, with plugins for Facebook, Discord, Steam, and Mastodon, and additional protocol support via libpurple. Users install it and connect with any IRC client, where the built-in 'root' bot helps set up accounts; contacts can then be messaged and groupchats appear as regular IRC channels. Public BitlBee servers are also available for people who don't want to run their own instance.
