Content is structured into Books, Chapters, and Pages, with full-text search, a WYSIWYG or Markdown editor, and built-in diagram creation. It supports role-based permissions, multi-factor authentication, and authentication via email/password, OIDC, SAML2, and LDAP.

The BookStack software itself is free and open source (MIT licensed) with no cost to download or install. Paid tiers shown (£450/year Professional, £4,500/year Enterprise) are for official support services provided by HTTP Functions Ltd, not for the software itself. VAT is not included in current pricing although may be chargeable in the future.
