Briar is a peer-to-peer encrypted messaging app that lets users communicate without relying on central servers. It can synchronize messages directly between devices via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or memory cards when the internet is down, or via the Tor network when it is available, to resist surveillance and censorship. Briar also supports encrypted forums and blogs where every subscriber keeps a copy of the content, and Briar Mailbox lets users who are online at different times exchange messages securely. It is free and open source software.
